“The girl who started Salute Saturday, let’s call her Samantha, explains that “Snark blogs are wrong, they are negative, and people get hurt.” I wish someone could qualify what’s actually “wrong” about criticism. Her last point, that people get hurt, is apt. People are bound to get hurt sometimes. Getting hurt on the internet isn’t one of the worse types of pain the average person will experience in their life, but yes, it still can hurt. That’s life. It’s part of how humans interact.”

the individual who said this, lets call him, “Ben”.

I would like to point out that my opinion on criticism is that I am all for it. If it is constructive and serves any sort of purpose whatsoever. However, there is a difference in criticizing an individual, and completely insulting and tearing down their person, mental state, and self esteem. A lot of the items on snark blogs simply are aimed to hurt people. For example I saw a comment about someone simply state “loser”, how is that a criticism at all. Additionally, if you have to hide behind an anonymous venue in effort to hurt someone then obviously you aren’t confident in your words, your opinions, or brave enough to speak directly to that individual.

I hate to be kind of a dick, but does this really bother you that much?

Yeah it does. Does it bother you that it bothers me? If you don’t understand why people anonymously bashing you and your friends is offensive, I don’t know what to tell you.

please help get this deputy fired

If you could please write to the Seattle Police Dept, via their website here, I would greatly appreciate it. There is a cop, currently on PAID administrative leave who brutally attacked a 15 year-old girl who was being held in custody. The video turns my stomach so I won’t post it but you can view it here on youtube. The deputy, Paul Schene has plead not guilty.

Please take a moment from the usual tumblr postings and repost this to help do some good.

"Night, the beloved. Night, when words fade and things come alive.

When the destructive analysis of day is done, and all that is truly important becomes whole and sound again. When man reassembles his fragmentary self and grows with the calm of a tree.”  -Antoine de Saint Exupéry
